W is for World of Weather: Hitting the Trail with the Wilderness Survival Guide

A whole appendix on Weather...

with tables like

You know... I am losing interest. Maybe another day.

  1. I once rolled up two weeks worth of weather using the tables in the Greyhawk Gazette. Gawd help us, never again. These days I use the highly scientific method of looking out of the window. :D

  2. I actually contend that trying to use the WSG weather tables scrupulously caused the destruction of my college D&D game.

Note that for all that effort, you get one of those letter temperature indicators -- and it has no in-game effect whatsoever, it's just purely descriptive flavor-text.

  3. Wow, thanks for the comments. Mixing real life and AtoZ is nearly killing me, that's why this post was so abrupt. I don't like the WSG. What I am trying to work out is it just me, grumpy overworked middle aged, or is it the book?

  4. 6 Reasons to Eat Pemmican (+ DIY Video Guide)

American frontiersman didn't have MREs, but they did have Pemmican.

Pemmican is a portable, long-lasting, high-energy food that was invented by Native Americans. It's made of lean, dried meat that's crushed into powder and mixed with hot, rendered fat. You can even add dried fruit for taste, and the best part is just a handful will sustain a full-grown man all day long - even while working. This makes it a great food to have in an emergency.
