I thought it was in the DMG, but maybe it was in UA, or even C&S.

I'm in favour of under-describing loot viewed by flickering torchlight, and using precious stones as magical ingredients. Maybe I should work up a table that includes oddities like ambergris and frankincense.richardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13517340075234811323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5887410874340004979.post-86223332411582947212011-04-08T21:41:42.479+01:002011-04-08T21:41:42.479+01:00Good suggestion Talysman.

Values of different stones vary from place to place or time to time, although hard, translucent stones seem to be the more valuable ones everywhere, while polished, opaque stones are generally lower value. So, maybe we can avoid multiple tables:

* Less than 100 GP: opaque gemstone

* 100 to 500 GP: unusual substance (amber, pearl)

* more than 500 GP: translucent or transparent gemstone

We can roll 1d6, lowering the stone one category on a 1 and raising it on a 6. Improvising specific gemstone names should be pretty easy.Talysmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02162328521343832412noreply@blogger.com
